Description:

System Center Configuration Manager 2007 is a server application for software deployment, distribution, update management, and configuration monitoring throughout an organisation's IT environment, with some services available to computers and other devices not connected to a physical network. Configuration Manager automates many tasks associated with software deployment and maintenance while enforcing the organisation's software configuration policies and standards.

Service Pack 1 supports the use of Windows Server 2008 on all servers in a site system and also provides several feature updates.

R2 integrates support for application virtualization, provides tools and reports to assess the status of client computers, allows use of SQL reporting services, and updates the operating system deployment capability.

Configuration Manager can automate physical or virtual installation and deployment of all versions of Windows as well as other software, including both physical and virtual applications and updates, on desktops, servers, laptops, and mobile devices. Software is installed and customized according to specifications without user intervention.

Configuration Manager can deliver updates and security patches for operating systems, BIOS, Microsoft and third-party applications, and specialized in-house applications. Through Internet Based Client Management, computers not connected to the organisation's physical network can receive updates quickly and securely over the Internet. Software updates on networked computers can take place even when a computer is powered off.

Configuration Manager helps ensure that software throughout an organisation is configured for optimal performance, usability, and security. Administrators can define configuration guidelines according to the IT needs of their organisation, using Microsoft's recommended configurations as a guide.

This product includes SQL Server 2005 Technology. SQL Server Technology acquired with this product can be used can be used only to support Configuration Manager 2007.

Licence Requirements: This product includes only the Configuration Manager server licence. A client management licence (ML) is required for each nonserver device managed by Configuration Manager. Clients may be licenced per operating system environment (OSE) or per user.

A standard or enterprise server ML is required for each server (that is, each device running a server operating system) managed by Configuration Manager. The standard ML allows for management of basic server operating system workloads, while the enterprise ML is necessary for management of server applications and other premium workloads.

All server MLs are licenced per OSE. In other words, if a server is running multiple OSEs, one ML is necessary for each OSE managed by Configuration Manager. For more information about licensing Configuration Manager, see System Center Licensing (PDF) from Microsoft.

Acquiring the License Key and Installation Media: Installing this product requires a license key and installation media. Instuctions for obtaining the license key will be sent to your organisation email address after your eligibility has been verified and your administrative fee has been received.
