Camp Quality is a non-profit organisation committed to bringing hope and happiness to every child living with cancer, their families and communities, through ongoing quality recreational, educational, hospital and financial support programs.
Camp Quality passionately believes in the power of fun in helping children and their families overcome the challenges that cancer brings. Fun flows through everything the organisation runs — from its programs to its philosophies — with the firm belief that ‘laughter is the best medicine’.
Camp Quality’s first office was established in Sydney, Australia, in 1983. It now has 13 offices located in states and territories throughout Australia. Each year the organisation supports more than 5,000 families as they participate in camps and other activities.
An additional 250,000 children annually are reached by Camp Quality through the McDonald's Camp Quality Puppet Program — a fun and interactive educational program where life-sized puppets help children become more aware of the need to be caring and supportive of other children who have major illnesses such as cancer.
In 2008, through the DonorTec program, Camp Quality received Microsoft® and Cisco goods enabling them to operate with the latest up-to-date technology.
"The DonorTec donations provide huge savings for us,” said Kim Heng, Finance/IT Manager of Camp Quality. “IT is a large component of operating costs for most organisations today. The donated technology allows us to drive our donor dollars further towards the programs for the children and their families that we support through Camp Quality," she said.
“Thank you Microsoft and Cisco for your generosity towards not-for-profit organisations. Your contribution makes a real difference to us,” she added.
“DonorTec is such a great initiative! This program saved us money which enables us to direct our funds to our programs, and enables us to use best-of-breed equipment and software.”
Kim said she would highly recommend the DonorTec scheme to other not-for-profits ‘with a resounding yes!’
